“You are what you wear”
Your parents told you this, your teachers in high school probably told you this when you started wearing short skirts and tube blouses to school fairs and casual Fridays. Beauty magazines tell you this when they try to sell you clothes that fit your skin color, body type- even your hair color and the shape of your face.
Your choice of clothing says a lot about who you are-yes- and I have always had this constant battle with fashion.
Thousands of fashion blogs are up, even I follow a lot of them because I honestly never really know what to wear. I never know what to wear to casual dinners with friends, dinner dates, lunch dates, what to wear when you go to the movies or to a night out with the girls. What should I wear to work, to family dinners ? There’s just too many things to remember, to mix and match, remember to accentuate your assets and hide your flaws, what colors fit your skin type, your height etc.
I’m a girl and I should know these things- but I don’t.
And this has always bothered me. I never really had my “own style”. Until it hit me- I do have my own style, and I have had it ever since.
But let’s start with College.
In UP diliman, people will judge you for being too fashionable, because well, let’s face it: We don’t have elevators, only two or three colleges have air conditioned rooms, you had to ride the ikot- toki jeeps if you didn’t want to be late for class, and, basta you just had to be comfortable or you just won’t fit. (That was back when I was still in college though, I don’t know about now, times have changed hah!)
So I would wear sneakers, shorts and a tshirt every single day. Sometimes I would wear tank tops here and there, maybe a dress on super hot days, but I would always be wearing either sneakers or slippers with my outfits. Heels and girly flats were my enemies. They killed my feet. They just weren’t comfortable.
So it’s safe to say that is my style. Comfortable. . Im not “fashown”, I’m not “hipster”, I don’t always follow trends. But I will always ALWAYS wear what’s comfortable. Ive tried following cute trends and wearing uncomfortable dresses that make my ass look tight or my boobs look big- all for the sake of looking great. But I end up adjusting the skirt, fixing my bra and almost turning blue and feeling like suman. So maybe I did look great, but I sure as hell did not feel it.
My point is, I look great when I feel great. If im gonna be cursing the entire time because of my gorgeous sky high heels, then I’d rather wear chucks with a nice dress to a dinner. Id wear make-up and some nice jewelry to play fair (since girls are supposed to look girly nice on dinner dates), but I would really rather be comfortable in my own clothes for me to be comfortable with who I’m going to be with, and what im going to do.
So, yes. “You are what you wear”.
And if you’re anything like me, then let’s take this journey together.
Let’s find out our likes, dislikes, our similarities and differences all through figuring out what to wear and where to wear our clothes. We’re different. But we’re comfortable and happy.
And happy girls are always the prettiest, right?

Off to Lunch with friends then straight to the RX 93.1 station.
Walking around Korea in comfortable jeans, sneakers, black long sleeved top and a leather jacket. Comfortable and cozy ;)
Off to lunch in my mom's high waisted jeans (true definition of vintage, haha), a cropped top and my favorite pair of chucks
Just a random shoot in UP. White shirt, shorts, chucks and ray bans. Most comfortable outfit ever
